Happy New Year, friends! What a great holiday season it was! I hope you all enjoyed lots of quality time with those you hold close. It was impossible for me to have anything but cheer due to The Boss and her reactions to everything holiday this year. In a word, it was Awesome.
In the Lancet family, age 3 seems to be the magic number to put your feet into ski boots (or age 27 in my case) and there was certainly enough snow on the slopes to make that worthwhile! This Christmas brought The Boss close enough to age 3 to qualify and her grandparents made sure it happened.
If you would have told me 7 years ago that I would be able to ski confidently AND have my child skiing with me, I would have laughed in your face. Putting on skis was a big fear of mine and it took me a few years, even with the most patient of teachers, to actually find it fun. It was a lot of work there for a while, but now I see the fun it--especially because these two see the fun in it.
Never mind the fact that even on her first run with Hank, I ate her dust...errr snow. I said I could ski confidently, I didn't say I have a need for speed. It was a joy to see her take to it and have so much fun already.
I do have some goals for myself this year that curiously overlap with some goals of last year (like selfish knitting!). Other goals will hopefully bring some big changes and that may mean some big challenges. But heck, if I can ski, I guess I can tackle just about anything. In any case, I hope you'll follow my journey this year!

I love the skiing pictures! What a fun thing to do as a family. Good luck to you in your adventures this coming year!
Year of selfish knitting...take two! You CAN tackle your new challenges - I'm excited for you and here for support when you need it!
I'm really happy I didn't marry a skiier. :-) But you guys do look very happy on the slopes!
You've been there for me during my challenges, so you know I'm here if you need me, too! I'm hopeful that 2010 will be the year that I need less support and can start supporting others again. :-)
