Photo of the day-goodnight story.
If you know me at all, you know how much I value the act of reading to kids. In fact, this love spilled over into volunteer work I used to do with and early literacy program called Beginning with Books. Due to financial insolvency, the program came to an end last year. A huge loss to low-income children in the Pittsburgh area. Since my stint with Beginning with Books ended, I've spent countless hours reading to that big girl in the picture. Oh did my heart swell when I saw the above take place. She still "reads" by memorization, but she's on the cusp of learning the right way. The babe doesn't care, he's entranced either way. It's all about passing the baton.
