Guidance

While The Boss has wonderful grandparents always willing to lend a hand when it comes to babysitting, we also have a fantastic neighborhood babysitter, Elise. She's just a short walk away and is not averse to late nights should we actually stay out late--which is not often, but it's nice to have the option! She comes in handy when Hank's boss decides to send him on a work trip every single time I have book club. Seriously, I can predict when Hank has to travel for work because it's only when I have something planned. Anyway, before I get all wrapped up in that little tirade, let me talk a little bit more about Elise. She's one of those uber responsible, mature-beyond-her-years, super smart, and super active teenagers. You know, the kind that gets all As, does at least two sports each season, volunteer work and has a job...oh yeah, she's pretty, too. Uh huh, she's that kind, and we adore her (Elise has equally wonderful parents as well)and so does The Boss. I envision The Boss taking on at least half of her characteristics, if not all! Elise is doin' the ole college hunt this summer and I'm about this close to bribing her to stay local. She's got her heart set on Penn State...yeah, Penn State as in MAIN campus, which is not that convenient to me. Anyway, we love Elise no matter where she goes and the other day I found a sweet little card from her and this in our doorway (click photo for full funniness):
Oh yeah, she's also the kind that will leave you sweet little notes for no reason! Like handwritten ones, on cute cards, not in a txt msg! I think she's trying to tell us her time in the neighborhood is numbered and that we may have to give a little guidance to her replacement. The thing is, there isn't one and there probably won't be. Sob! As a longtime babysitter (shamefully, I still babysat until I was practically giving birth to my own), every single line on this notepad is so spot on, I had to share. I especially like the Watch Out For: sugar-snack lies. I knew them well!

Oh, she sounds nice...and her name is Elise - that makes her sounds even nicer! Does she have friends in my area?

that card is funny, i saw a whole pad of them in a kitchy little shop in the dc ara about a year and a half ago in alexandria.
